Me and My Body Class- 4 week series
April 19 - May 10
Saturdays, 10:00-10:45 am, $52/ child with 1 adult

Help foster your child's healthy self-image! One caregiver participates with your 3 or 4 year old. Explore the amazing human body through movement, hands-on models, games, pictures, and other creative activities. Topics include Bones, Muscles, Senses, Heart & Blood, Lungs, The Eating System, and more. This class will spark ongoing conversations and help you answer those questions about how the body works. By engaging in a fun and creative way, preschoolers build a foundation of fascination and respect for their bodies, which can help foster a positive self-image. Our culture offers certain body taboos, adults (maybe even us) communicate body disappointments ("I'm too ____"), and our media advertises images of "the perfect body." These attitudes can lead down the path of low self-esteem, eating disorders, drug use, obesity, and other concerns. So why not answer those many curious questions now, in a way that facilitates "my body" becoming part of "me" that "I love."

What is Pilates?
The Pilates Method is a system of movement and therapeutic exercise developed over a span of 60 years by German born athlete and physical therapy pioneer, Joseph H. Pilates. It was his goal to provide a way for people to release the physical stress held in their bodies which results from living in today's modern world.

Increasing in popularity, Pilates is used for the purpose of fitness as well as rehabilitation from various injuries.

The Feldenkrais Method® uses awareness and guided movement to help you improve flexibility, coordination, efficiency, and breathing, and to affect habits that contribute to strain or pain. You will also find that patterns of thinking can be affected as you learn to create options, come to trust your internal authority more deeply, and coordinate all parts of yourself towards your goals. Awareness Through Movement® classes are verbally directed movement explorations. Movements are easy & gentle, allowing you to become aware of new options as they slowly increase in complexity. Functional Integration® private sessions involve gentle, non-invasive touch to address your concerns and curiosities.
